I moved to Munich!

What an exciting roller coaster of an adventure it's been, but I wouldn't have it any other way - exploring a beautiful city that I love with the man I love!

I'm working on writing more about what is currently going on in and around the city. We've had an influx of visitors and it won't be changing anytime soon with Oktoberfest around the corner.

Happy expatversary, Emily!

My Pontarlier experience is now in it's fifth month - so far the weather has been nice to us but they say that over here it starts snowing in October - I'm so glad we moved in springtime!

Congratulations on a wonderful 4 years! I should also thank you for making me less fearful of possibly taking a similar plunge. I know you are already so busy with catching up on trip reports here but perhaps in the near future you can blog about practical tips, advice, adjustments you had to make, etc. when you made the move to Germany. I would be interested in the practical aspects more so than the emotional aspect since that would be too subjective. It's a BIG request, I know, and maybe too personal(?) so I understand if this can't be done. I thought I'd throw it out there anyway.

Thanks! I love the 'expatversary' - funny! I whole heartedly agree that moving in the Spring is much nicer. Hopefully it's at least a beautiful winter and not too gray.

I think I have actually started something similar eons ago. I will check if I have it around and try to work on that for you. Is there anything particular you are curious about?

Thanks for being so generous with your time and sharing your experiences/knowledge. Some things that would be nice to hear about from your perspective:

1. The Move - practical stuff that you had to go through (e.g., did you ship your stuff using one of those giant containers?) Tips/advice to prepare for the move

2. Did you apply for a extended visa, work visa, or had EU privileges? How did that hinder/help with finding work? I realize that you are now self-employed but did you start out that way? For myself, I am trying to find a job in my field without fluency in the German language (studying German but still a beginner)and without a work visa (yet). For the work visa, of course I would obtain one in order to be legal, but I understand that you cannot apply for one until you have been offered a position - a catch-22, in a way. Any thoughts/advice? This is a big one, I know.

Again, just curious. This is a big request. I have looked into the legal req'ts and have done some good research but I guess I am just hoping to see it from someone who has been there and done it successfully. I am hoping to learn from other people's experiences.
