Happy New Year!

Each year on the first we write a list of predictions. It's a fun tradition to see what comes true and what doesn't - as well as the surprises along the way.

If you asked me at the beginning of 2009 if I would have the chance to make a trip around the world I would have laughed. I thought there was a good chance we would move, and yet we are in the same apartment.

I love seeing how life plays out.

Some of the places I am really hoping to visit in 2010 are:
Istanbul, Turkey
Norway
Provence, France (especially during the lavender season!)
Dubrovnik, Croatia
(being ambitious I'll also add Greece)

I hope to do more creatively and really work on cooking, finding more delicious recipes, reading good books, and appreciating the simple things. 2009 will be tough to beat.

We wish you all a wonderful New Year!

Those are admirable goals. We'd like to do Istanbul and Scandinavia in 2010, too. Provence tends to sneak into our plans every year (though maybe this year we'll replace it with Normandy for a change).

We spent an afternoon wandering around Dubrovnik as port-of-call on a Med cruise. It was cute. I'd be more interested to get your impressions on other parts of Croatia — so here's hoping you get all your list items crossed off, and then some.

NORWAY!? Can you get here before April! I'd just die for that!

If was already in Europe my list would look more like yours, especially as I have family in Greece and best friend in Croatia. But as I am still holding down a full-time job in the states I'll content myself with parts of France, Brussels/Leuven Belgium and a round trip through Germany. Looking around the web for advice on Germany led me here and you have such a beautiful blog.

I don't think you'd be disappointed with Istanbul or Scandinavia. Don't forget to look for cheap flights from Memmingen! There are some crazy inexpensive ones and it's easy to get in and out from Munich.

Croatia is a big one on my list - I still would really like to go to Plitvice Waterfalls / Plitvicka Jezera. Hopefully that works out this year!

It looks like it's going to be the cusp... hope we don't miss you!

I'd say that's really impressive that you're able to do so much international travel, especially from the US considering their notoriously short vacation days. I hope you found some helpful advice. Let me know if you have any questions or need help with anything! I'm glad that you enjoy my blog - it's always nice to know that people find it helpful.

I hope you're enjoying your new year - and being a year more fabulous! Happy Belated birthday!!!

It's one of my goals this spring - I hope we can get enough time to make it happen!
