I couldn't get over how old the buildings were there. We also saw a tiny synagogue.

Allison...
I'm glad you enjoyed it - there is certainly so much to see. I wish we could have stayed in Morocco longer. I especially loved your photo of the sea of boats. It must be so interesting for you to travel now, because you have had so many experiences, that you can compare and contrast so differently now.raJoernandAllisonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07628299252563104979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6251825973853257441.post-22253992737878532722011-02-11T21:03:27.281+01:002011-02-11T21:03:27.281+01:00I loved reading about your time in Essaouira, Emil...I loved reading about your time in Essaouira, Emily! We have such fond memories of the place, which is so much more calm than Marrakech. We were there in 2003, but it sounds like not much has changed. The blue boats against the tan fortress are stunning, aren't they? It was interesting to me to read that you observed so much religious participation. When we were there, the calls to prayer seemed to go largely ignored. One guy even told us, "religion is just for old ladies." Speaking of religion, did you notice the old Jewish quarter of the city? Fascinating history!CraftyRachelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17765194491932999368noreply@blogger.com
